The Origin of Rubies & Sapphires

Determining the origin of gems can be a very complex process. Some gems contain distinctive inclusions which can be indicative of their origin - treacle swirls of colour in Mogok rubies for example. Other gems may contain very few inclusions or properties indicative of origin. For this reason the stated origin of each gem is based on our opinion.
